Veggie McNation

I wanted to email McDonald’s in the US to implore them to make a veggie Big Mac.  However, the online form was only available to residents of the US (or to people of other nations who lie I suppose). 

On the Canadian site I was informed that I needed to write an actual letter to communicate my message to them.  So I decided that I would save a stamp and simply make a public announcement of my suggestion that McDonald’s make a veggie Big Mac.  And not with those nasty veggie patties, but with those patties that Harvey’s uses that actually look like a meat patty (they taste much better too). 

Then I could enjoy McDonald’s again for I sorely miss their fries (but what’s the point if that’s all you’re going to buy?).

Anyways, just a thought…

Well I’ve finally flipped over to the non-carnivorous side of life.  Actually, I shouldn’t say ‘finally’ because I was a vegetarian as a teenager.  Somewhere along the line Big Macs got the best of me.  But that’s all finished with now. 

The main reason I’m vegetarian now is because I simply cannot bear to watch any animal suffer – let alone cause them to suffer.  So if I can’t do that then it seems unethical to me that I would contribute to that suffering.  

Seeing that I don’t like pork, fish, and especially chicken – it’s no big deal.  I’ll miss my mother’s meatloaf and the aforementioned Big Macs (although for all you out there going through withdrawal, Harvey’s makes a mean veggie burger).  

But I gotta say some of the best things in life are vegetarian!
